Ok, I thought ROKU and Next TV was cool and it is, but this is way cooler!
You can download Apps. for ARD, WDR, das Erste and ZDF, play the show on your I phone, pad, touch - whatever you have, select air play and play it on your TV over Apple TV.
FREE!!!!
Yes, you have to buy the Apple TV and have the I device but that is it! Besides you can also you use the Apple TV for Netflix, youtube, I tune etc. etc.

German in America
This blog is not necessarily about me being from Germany but I would love for it to be a platform for other Germans (or foreigners from any country and Americans as well of course) to exchange ideas, tips, opinions etc.

ROKU rocks!
This is THE coolest little device out there. Read the description on amazon; I can't do a better job explaining what it is than amazon does.
It comes pre loaded with apps/channels but you can also get private channels, one of which being next TV. With Next TV you can watch German TV. Check it out here.
It's a bit pricy (20 bucks a month) but if you miss German TV, this is as goo as it gets.

Raclette!
I am very excited! I have ordered a Raclette Machine and it will arrive tomorrow. I have never eaten Raclette. Have you? My friend, Babette, in Germany has it all the time and she has good taste, so I finally spent the 50 bucks.
I could not find Racelette Cheese at Publix, Winn Dixie or BJs and Whole Foods is just too far away. We will have Gouda with it.
Do you have any recommendations what to cook on my Raclette? Do you prefer Raclette or Fondue?
I will let you know how it turns out tomorrow and I'll also let you know if I like the machine I ordered on Amazon.
and here is what the table looked like. It's great fun. Way better than Fondue I think.

Apologies
One of the most important things when having a blog is to frequently post so readers know that there will be something new to read when they kindly come back.
I live in the Florida Keys and unlike almost everywhere else in the US we are having beautiful warm weather. That did not prevent me from getting a terrible cold or flu (I don't know what the heck it was). Due to the fact that I get sick so seldom, I might be a bit whinier than the average person when it comes to having a cough and stuffy nose etc. I did continue to work but neglected this blog in its very important beginning stage. I am all better and will be back to posting frequently. Please come back and check ... also, there won't be any whining. I promise!

Great recipe sites
I know how to cook most German dishes but sometimes I want to compare my recipe to others or just add a little twist.
Most of you probably already know www.Chefkoch.de but just in case you don't: it's a great site with thousands of recipes with plenty reviews and pictures and even degree of difficulty.
Once in a while I have one ingredient and I just plug that in and check out what looks good. I found this recipe for Gemuesegurken/Cucumbers there; its great:
You might already know Mybestgermanrecipes It has great pictures and feels more like looking through a nice food magazine. As you 'durchblaetterst' you'll get inspired to try some. It's well worth becoming a member but you don't have to.
